Arbitration Award

Brothers and Sisters,

The bargaining team has been meeting with the employer for well over a year. Although we were able to agree to some proposals, we were not able to agree on monetary issues, therefore we decided to send them to arbitration.

The Union brought all of your outstanding issues to the August 2nd arbitration hearing. The Employer also forwarded a number of concessions, including a proposed change to the benefit co-pay (75%/25%) and the reclassification of some bargaining unit jobs.

The Board of Arbitration awarded industry standard wage increases only (all retro-active):

April 1st 2014 – 1.4% general wage increase

April 1st 2015 – 1.4% general wage increase

April 1st 2016 – “me too” to the OPSEU/ONA central wage increase.

Those members who are still “red circled” will receive lump sum payments equivalent to 50% of the wage increase.
