Early Years and Child Care Strategy

The Ontario government is holding a very brief consultation on the Early Years and Child Care Strategy. The OFL is encouraging our affiliates, committee members, union members, and their contacts here in Ontario to participate in these consultations – in person and/or through the survey www.ontario.ca/form/early-years-and-child-care-strategy.

Registration is not required for the public meetings (dates are contained in the attached document). We encourage each of you to participate in the consultations. Attached you will find guidance from the OFL on key messages and select survey responses that can be used during the consultation period.

The OFL is advocating for a universal, publicly funded, high-quality, and affordable childcare system in Ontario. We will also be emphasizing the need to compensate childcare workers fairly to ensure high-quality services and that the lack of access to childcare is a significant barrier to women entering the workforce.

If you have any questions, please contact our Director of Research and Education, Thevaki Thevaratnam, at tthevaratnam@ofl.ca or our Director of Women’s Issues, Carrol Anne Sceviour, at csceviour@ofl.ca.

Please take the time to participate in-person and/or through the survey. It is very important that workers and union members participate to ensure that our voices are heard. Thank you in advance for your efforts. In solidarity, Patty Coates Secretary-Treasurer Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) 202 - 15 Gervais Drive Toronto, ON M3C 1Y8 416-441-2731/1-800-668-9138 tel
