Support Local 316
Dear Local Presidents,
I wanted to provide an update on Local 316 Community Living Campbellford - yesterday the bargaining team spent 14.5 hours trying to mediate a settlement with the assistance of a conciliation officer. Needless to say, after a long day and multiple attempts at addressing the members issues the employer ultimately refused to resolve the dispute. Local 316 remains on strike currently, but are open to further negotiations should the employer want to continue to bargain and attempt to resolve the ongoing issues. Tomorrow the team will be meeting with Minister Helena Jaszek to let her know what the outstanding issues are, while the team is meeting with the Minister the rest of the group will be out on the lawn at QP for a solidarity demo. Should anyone be available or happen to be in Toronto tomorrow, the solidarity demo will run from 2:45 to 4:30. Next Wednesday, we are planning solidarity pickets in conjunction with Region 4 in locations where the scabs are coming from. We will send the details out on the two solidarity pickets shortly. Last, but not least plans are in the works for a big rally Saturday, April 22 to mark the one month strikaversary. If you could please share this information with your membership and also the details as soon as we have the locations and times finalized that would be very much appreciated. Any help and support you or your members can provide at any of the events, or on the picket lines is always welcome!
Thank you to all of the members who have shown up to visit picket lines and have donated to Local 316, I know that all of the support from Region 3 and OPSEU members province wide helps Local 316 keep their spirits up!
Local 316 strong!
