NOTICE OF ELECTION

Please be advised that OPSEU Local 329 will be conducting elections for all executive positions, as well as Trustees. At this time, we are restricted from hosting in person voting at a General Membership Meeting like we typically would, so this year is going to be a little different. Elections will take place electronically using the Election Buddy platform on October 13, 2021. Here’s what you need to know. 1) All members wishing to vote must register by providing their name (as it appears on their OPSEU registration) and personal email address to elections329@gmail.com prior to October 10, 2021 at 4pm. This must be done even if you have signed up for the mailing list. 2) Anyone seeking election must first be steward. Please contact the union office if you wish to become a steward. 3) Those seeking election will be required to submit a completed nomination form to elections329@gmail.com prior to October 10, 2021, at 4pm. If you wish to make a statement to the membership, please include this in the email and it will be uploaded to your candidate profile. 4) Prior to the election, registered members will receive an email from Election Buddy with voting instructions. 5) If a position does not have a majority winner with at least 50% of the votes, another election will be required to achieve a majority. If this is the case, information will be communicated to members via email. 6) Voting will be open on the online platform for 24 hours, starting at 9am October 13 th and closing at 9am October 14th. 7) Election Security – As is the case at meetings, the election will be run by OPSEU staff. Nobody affiliated with the local will have any part of the election to maintain neutrality. 8) Your email address provided MUST be a personal address, not an employer email. Information collected will be for the sole purpose of establishing a voter list. You will receive no communication other than for the purposes of this election. Voter information will be destroyed after the election. The Local did explore in person and hybrid election models that we thought may have been viable, but ultimately those options were denied. Although we would much prefer to conduct business in person, that just wasn’t possible at this time. If anyone has questions or concerns, feel free to reach out the Union Office or any steward.
